     Phineas Cole was born on 25 Nov 1744 at Boxford, Essex County, Massachusetts.2 He was the son of Samuel Cole Jr. and Bethia Hardy. Phineas Cole married Abiah Hazeltine on 19 Jan 1766 at Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts.3 Phineas Cole married Catharine Hudson on 17 May 1776 at Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts.4 Marriage intentions for Phineas Cole and Abiah Hazeltine were published on 20 Dec 1765 at Boxford, Essex County, Massachusetts.5 Phineas Cole died at Pelham, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.6
     Phineas was a Seargant in Captain Nathaniel Gage's Co. of Minute Men, Capt. James Frye's Regiment which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775 in Lexington, known as the first battle of the Revolutionary War. He was also in camp at Cambridge May 15, 1775 and Sept. 6, 1775.

He achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in Capt. Joshua Reed's Co., Col. John Robinson's Light Infantry Regt., engaged June 27, 1777 for 6 months. He was discharged Oct. 10, 1780.7 He lived in Boxford, Essex County, Massachusetts, bt 1790 - 1810.8 About 1800 Phineas operated a tavern in Boxford at the Clement place. Soon afterward he moved to Pelham, New Hampshire and instituted another tavern in that place.9,10 He lived in Salem, New Hampshire, in 1820.11
