Harriet M. Armstrong, 82, of Lakewood, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Leisure Park Nursing Home, Lakewood. Born in Elizabeth, she lived in Holiday City, Berkeley for many years before moving to Lakewood in 2005. She sold Avon for many years and was an active member for the Deborah and Twigs Organizations.
She was predeceased by her husband, Calvin, in 2004. She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda and son-in-law, Lenny Meluski, who will miss all the wonderful desserts she made for the holidays; grandsons, Todd and his wife Kayla Meluski and Gregg Meluski; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Petruska, along with their family John Michael Petruska, Danny And Alyssa Petruska and September Petruska; a great-grandson; two sisters, Alice Papa and Eleanor Hollowell; a brother, John and his wife Arlene Bersey; a brother-in-law, Dominic Papa; and a niece, Maria Papa; many nieces, nephews and her kind caretaker, Freda McCabe.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday, May 15 until the funeral service at 10 a.m. at D'Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 and Vermont Avenue, Lakewood. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater N.J. Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365.7
